Lars Mikkelsen3-765x1024He began his studies at the National Theatre School of Denmark at the age of 27. He graduated in 1995. In addition to his appearance in the drama show telecast in the world under the name The Killing, he subsequently was a part of two other internationally acclaimed Danish drama series, Those Who Kill and Borgen III. He also had a prominent part in the BBC drama Sherlock where he played blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. He played the Russian president in the American TV show House of Cards. In the year 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his role as the president of Russia on the Danish television drama Herrens Veje. It was broadcast in the UK in the year 2019. According to Mikkelsen the actor learned English from his brother watching Monty Python recordings and watching the sketches of comedy.
